Returning Chicken Inn gaffer, Joey ‘Mafero’ Antipas has heaped praises on Castle Lager premiership’s newly promoted teams Nichrut and Mutare City whom he said had character and were really tough additions to the topflight.

Speaking after watching his side’s 1-0 win over Harare giants Caps United at the giant National Sports Stadium on Workers’ Day, Mafero said that since his return the approach by newly promoted sides had changed from being teams which add up numbers to ones which fight for a place in the topflight.
“One thing for sure is that the competition is now tough. The new teams are coming up and they are really good.
“Teams like Nichrut are stubborn and tough to beat, Mutare City are fighting for their lives so the competition is now tough,” said Joey Antipas who was snapped up by then National First Division (NFD) side, Amazulu after bagging the premiership in 2015 and an impressive but short stint in the CAF champions league the following year during his first stint at Chicken Inn.
Chicken Inn drew nil all against Nichrut before accounting for Mutare City 2-1 after some very impressive defending from the Manicaland side in the first half.
Nichrut exhibited its stubborn character last Saturday when they managed to lead 3-1 against Makepekepe before losing concentration, thereby falling to a Simba Nhivi hattrick to finally lose it 4-3 at Ascot Stadium.
Antipas faces poor Bulawayo City at Luveve next.
