Their 2-0 triumph was even sweeter after the realisation that they had equaled rivals, Dewure’s record as the only team from Masvingo province to have won the annual grassroots initiative twice since its inception in 1989.
Pamushana coach, Bernard Matenga gave credit to his boys saying they had come prepared and were happy it had paid off.
“I am happy that we leave Zvishavane as champions after close to 10 years. My boys gave it their all, I am sure they are happy with their performance too,” said Matenga.
His side went home $5,400 richer.
The team had advanced to the finals following some controversial officiating and later management of the tournament by the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) of their match against Prince Edward which they were eventually awarded on a 3-0 scoreline after P.E caused its abandonment.
In the Girl’s U15 category, Chidyamakono’s five year dominance was put to halt early in the group stages with Manicaland’s Nyamauru clinching the equally rewarding trophy for the first time.
