Want away Highlanders defender Peter Muduhwa has finally extended his stay at the Bulawayo giants after protracted negotiations between the club and him which almost fell through.
Highlanders FC communications officer Ronald Moyo confirmed to MatchDay Zimbabwe that Muduhwa had signed a two year contract with them after the expiry of the initial one on 31 December.
“I can confirm that Peter Muduhwa has renewed his stay with us, he signed a two year contract today (Thursday); I think this brings to an end all the speculations about him leaving the Club.
“He has always been one of the most influential and senior players in our very young squad,” said Moyo.
“We know some of our competitors were also chasing after him, but he chose us, which shows that Peter has Highlanders at heart.”
Muduhwa’s composure at the back had attracted interest from more financially stable clubs with reports indicating that Chicken Inn, Ngezi Platinum and newly promoted Manica side Manica Diamond FC were likely to be his new home.
Manager Madinda Ndlovu will heave a sigh of relief as his exit would have exposed his youthful side towards a season which threatens to be dominated by clubs from mining backgrounds again.
Muduhwa’s exit would have followed that of speed merchant Gabriel Nyoni who has since joined Caps United.
