SuperSport TV advertisement banners across the country’s numerous stadia that host the Castle Lager topflight league have been pulled down.

A snap survey by MatchDay Zimbabwe revealed that the giant National Sports Stadium, Rufaro, Gibbo, Barbourfields, Luveve and Ascot Stadium do not have a single SuperSport advert.
Touted as the continent’s largest sports broadcaster, Super Sport’s exit has left a broadcasting gap which will surely take time to fill.
Econet’s Kwese Sports which was widely expected to takeover after an end to the PSL’s fruitful relationship with Super Sport did not even bid for the rights.
The removal of the advertising boards is a clear sign that the South African based broadcaster has shut shop on our local football.
PSL has since called for new tenders for the premier league rights.
